Cloudy pale yellow with a decent initial head leaving a thin film with all lace all day.

I'm getting a vibrant floral aroma, with the yeast being well subdued. In addition to these aromas and flavors, I detect a little lemon, and possibly cinnamon.

I actually like regular better.

On tap at the House of Brews. Hazy pale orange. Big billowy white head. Smells fruity, for a moment like strawberries. Then banana and floral notes. Taste is bready. Sweet and doughy. Bitterness builds with phenols. Becomes a little medicinal. Medium body. Well carbonated. Drinkable, but not as pleasant as regular Hennepin.

This was recommended to me by the people at the local liquor store so I grabbed a growler full of it. It has a nice copper color, translucent, and smelled of grassy hops- about what you would expect for hoppy saison. This isn't a straight up hop bomb, but it's not for anyone who is afraid of hops. The triskel hops add interesting character, although it can be a little one dimensional at times. Fortunately, the hennepin is a fine tasting saison with good amount of the earthy, spicey, yeasty character that I love from a good farmhouse ale. This is a crisp, clean tasting beer that hid the alcohol well. It definitely has a bit of a bigger body that saisons with a lower ABV though. I don't think I've had beer made with triskel hops before, and this was interesting take on the style while still being distinctively a farmhouse ale. Really enjoyed this one. For fans of saisons and IPAs alike.

much like the calypso edition, i dont think this dry hopping improved upon the original, which i always found to be plenty hoppy as it is. i like that this hop is coming into vogue, more variety is always cool, but as i have said before, this isnt that interesting of a hop, and while the calypso had some unique properties, this seems a little more generic. its a little more bitter than i remember, which really shouldnt come from dry hopping, but its also got a really european flare to it, grassy and a touch floral, but quite mild on the whole. i think it actually works better than the calypso did, more in line with the rest of the recipe and flavors going on, but still it missed the mark for me in terms of evolving the base beer. maybe a little more hops in the aroma, but it comes at the expense at one of the best yeast profiles in the style, and its distracting to the tartness that hennepin normally brings. still tastes and feels awesome, i think this beer is a benchmark for the style, but the two dry hopped editions that have come out so far do little to improve upon it.
