Foamy head. Fairly typical Belgian blonde style ale - done well but not electrifying. Wine barrels add a hint of sweetness but not much flavor from the terroir

Best in the GoT series so far! Hoping this season will be for the show too. Cloudy yellowish orange body with two fingers of white foam. Smell has various citrus zest, grape musk, belgian spices, biscuit, flowers, wood, and belgian yeast. Taste was bright and sneaky complex, with the zesty spices and citrus floating atop a biscuity and musky beer. Add in some apple, a hint of funk, hay, vanilla and vinous qualities to boot. Hops and booze linger here and there. Surprisingly filling, highly textured though finishes smooth.

On tap poured into a tulip glass. A slightly hazy golden color with a medium white head. Nice Belgian aromas with banana, faint bubblegum, and faint white grapes. The taste deviated slightly with he above flavors but wrapped in a slightly tart fruity blanket. The wine was not overdone and generally complimented the flavors well. Overall quite enjoyable.

Golden in color, very slight haze, topped with a finger's worth of sticky foam. Smells malty and somewhat sweet, like fresh baked honey wheat bread. This is also giving off fruity aromas of golden raisin and ripe, baked apples. Typical Belgian phenolic flavor notes are present. Pretty much right in the middle of the road in terms of sweet/dry, ending in a dry finish. Shades of sparkling white wine. Alcohol is very well masked. Very effervescent mouthfeel with a lively carbonation that avoids being harsh.

A well-made and interesting beer; happy to be drinking this alongside the Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere.

Light apricot color, 1F head in an Orval Trappiste Glass.
Spicy, sour grape aroma.
Very dry, spicy MF.
The taste broadens with warming. Grape, Pinot Grigio.
Overall: my least favorite of the series. Why a dry Pinot Grigio, Viognier taste and feel
for the grand finale? Isn’t this the fight against the Night King?

This is like serving fruit cake for a birthday cake.

750 ml. bottle.
Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch white head over a bright yellow body with some lacing. Nose of grape (Viognier and Pinot Grigio), spice (pepper), and a bit of something herbal and floral (bubble gum?) as well. Bazooka! Taste is fruity white grape finishing semi-dry. Really nice paired with my salmon dish. Feel is all champagne and exhibiting Extra Dry to
Sec qualities of champagne sweetness. Damn, that feel though. Overall, I will be saving my other bottle for the season finale. Cheers!

Despite what the show might reveal in its final season, the beer brewed in the Game of Thrones saga has a bright side. Ommegang goes for the gold with a Belgian styled stronger golden ale that boastfully displays its additions of pinot grigio and viognier grapes with a juicy and radiant ending to a series (of beer) that's going to be missed.

Foggy golden in color and crowned with a tall and creamy lather, For the Throne leads with a winey tone over a scent of orchard fruit, citrus and cider. A spicy tingle of the nose balances the scent before the first sip reveals sugar cookie, honey and dough in a malty lead in.

The beer then blossoms on the middle palate as its sweetness weakens and its fruit flavors abound. Juicy pear, apple, lemon, papaya and pawpaw bring an estery dominance that only grows with the flavors of those wine grapes. Any yeast spice of white pepper, clove, vanilla or paradise seen certainly helps with balance but can't offer a full offset to the strong fruitiness that extends into a late palate where a grassy, peppery hop counterpart awaits.

Medium bodied but seemingly fuller compared to similar styles of saison or tripel, this golden ale has a fat malt taste although brewed largely with pilsner-esque type grains. A racy alcohol spice of white wine brings a pep along with the lift of creaminess that its expansive carbonation brings; For the Throne ends much more racy than anyone would have imagined.

Look: It pours golden and clear. Head retention is moderate.

Smell: It has some earthen aromas with a wine like quality of white grapes. It has some flowery undertones with bread and some bread crusts. There are also some spicy notes with it.

Taste: The earthen, spicy, and wine like qualities are fairly well balanced without one element dominating the other. There are some background flower flavors with a bit of honey. There is a grainy sweetness to it.

Feel: It has a medium body with a very dry finish.

Overall, a complex combination of various flavors that work well with one another.

On tap at ITap. Poured a slightly hazy, golden orange color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It smelled of yeastiness, caramel and green apple. Sweet caramel, spicy yeastiness and a fruity finish.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled in 2/2019. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with amazing retention, that reduces to a huge cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Amazing appearance. Aromas of big lemon, orange, peach, pear, apricot, melon, red apple, white grape/wine, fruit skin, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, candi sugar, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, grape juice, candi sugar, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, peach, pear, apricot, melon, red apple, white grape/wine, fruit skin, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, candi sugar, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness; herbal, floral, grassy bitterness; and light grape tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, peach, pear, apricot, melon, red apple, white grape/wine, fruit skin, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, candi sugar, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, grape juice, candi sugar, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness and carbonation. High carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mild increasing warmth of 9.5% after the finish. Overall this is an amazing fruited Belgian strong pale ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, grape juice, candi sugar, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; dangerously smooth and fairly crisp/clean to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Amazingly well rounded house Belgian yeast and wine grape juice complexity; with balanced sugars, pale/wheat malts, and earthy hops. Mild residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Very well attenuated for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering, and perfect example of the style. I love their Belgian house yeast as usual.
