Complex and compelling, yet delicate and refined, For the Throne is our tribute to the final occupant of the Iron Throne. This strong golden ale is co-fermented with Pinot Grigio and Viognier grape juices, then bottle conditioned with Champagne yeast.
The beer pours a striking golden copper with a fluffy white head. Aromas of honeysuckle and toasted grain mingle with notes of pear and apricot. The finish is clean and dry, with vibrant effervescence. For the Throne is an ale fit for royalty.

Clear golden. Huge, white head. Pear , grape , honey, Belgian yeasts, grains and wood in the aroma. Moderately sweet with dry finish. Rich and complex beer which is not relying completely on one ingredient.

750 ml Bottle from Boise Co-op. Rich holden pour with nice fluffy head, active carbonation. Bready, yeasty aromas. Taste brings a light grape sweetness on top of this full bodied golden ale. Wine barrels not out of place with this base brew. Subtle.

750 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Had 12/28/19.
Pours a darker golden color, cloudy, with a two and a half inch creamy foam head with lots of foamy lacing and active carbonation. Aromas of Belgian yeast, black pepper, white grapes, some wheat, light spices- coriander for one, a good amount of funk. Flavors of white grapes, Belgian yeast, light malt, some wine- more as it warms, some candi sugar, a general spiciness- especially coriander. Smooth, a very good light to medium body, well carbonated.
Good, well made and enjoyable. But, the grape juices don’t stand out enough to make this anything special.

Pours a light orange color with a full white head. Pretty spot on for the style.
Smells sweet, can detect a lot of apple and a hint of grape, little bread like overtones.
Pretty sweet at first sip, then not so much after. Has a tartness like an apple, with a hint of grape juice. There is a bit of spice there, helping to warm things up at the finish.
Warm and tingly, exactly what I expect from the style.
This is yet another really good beer from Ommegang. It is a bit sweet for the style, but not to the point of being overdone. It is a nice version of one of my favorite styles, wouldn't mind having more of this.

Golden orange ale with a small white colored head. Fair bit of chill haze.
You can smell it from a distance. Scent of over ripe apple and honeysuckle. Peppery coriander smells about medium for ales of this type. Slight Honeydew melon scent. Smells on the sweet side for this type of ale.
Starts out Sweet with a little acid tartness like a granny smith apple. Taste strongly of apple. Carbonation level stings the tongue a little. Medium level of coriander bite. Mild bitterness. Taste of tart white wine. Not complex but tasty and refreshing. Just enough sour to round out the sweet.
Mouthfeel seems light because of the carbonation level.
Overall this is tasty. Imagine Hennepin only more sweet and with an acid edge.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of Belgian malt notes with some sweet grapes notes is quite enticing. Taste is a nice mix of sweet grapes notes mix with some sweet Belgian malt with nice bready yeast notes. Body is about average with great carbonation. Another solid beer form Ommegang with great mix of flavours and proper attenuation.

Beautiful clear brew, a darker shade of amber, with abundant foam in the Affligem chalice. Inviting aroma of melon and muscat grapes with orange in the nose. Creamy carbonation with a tangy mouthfeel. Malty but not sticky. It's a wonderful balance of intense Belgian flavors with the light and bright fruity acidity.
The yeasty flavors are right up front with the dried pear and Cream of Wheat taste. Delicate fruity notes as well, with a touch of complex white wine. Just nicely sweet with the inevitable Belgian dry finish. One of the best beers I've had in 2019, and these Game of Thrones brews are all reasonably priced. From the 750 ml bottle purchased in the far Northwest.
