Slightly less than a finger's worth of rich dark khaki colored froth... Head quickly fizzes away and display no retention... Color is a rich mahogany dark brown... Still with limited carbonation... Big powerful sweet nose... Fig, brown sugar and molasses... Palate follows close to the nose but the sweetness is dialed down a notch and replaced by bready malts and a faint booziness that adds layers of depth and complexity... Some subtle notes of barrel aging as well... Full bodied... Slightly chewy... Limited carbonation... Excellent and well round beer... A wonderful beer...

Poured from a cork'n'cage bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Cloudy dark mahogany brown pour with 2 fingers of foamy white head. Great retention and lacing.
S: Bourbon and booze. Vanilla, sugars, and caramel.
T.F: Just like it smells. Sweet toasted grains and brown sugar. Caramel and vanilla. Booze, oak, and bourbon. Baked raisin and some yeasty esters. Medium bodied... sticky on the tongue. Smooth... better as it warms.
O: Similar to a lot of Ommegang's barrel-aged brews... but a slight cut above. Easy drinking, and the 9.5% ABV packs a punch without being obnoxious. Glad I snagged a bomber during a brewery visit.
