Had on tap at Max's 72 Hours of Belgium in 2009.
Appearance: cloudy yellowish orange with a short 1/4" head. No lacing develops.
Smell: strawberries and yeast were extremely pleasant on the nose.
Taste: this was a bit strange as strawberries, pears, and a big fruity sweetness mellowed by yeast spiciness and some mild bitterness. The flavors were subdued by very tasty. Dryness arrived late.
Mouthfeel: lightly crisp from start to finish. Medium bodied. Aftertaste was short and fruity.
Drinkability: despite the fruit focus, this was extremely drinkable. It is well balanced and a nice change in pace from some of the other beers we had during the festival.

Served on-tap at Max's during the first 15 minutes of 72 Hours of Belgium. This is a one-off produced for the festival. I emailed the brewery and learned that the ale is a 'light ale fermented with pear juice and strawberry essence.' Unlike Fruit Funk, it lacks funk.
A: The ale is a hazy yellow color, a little too dark to be straw but not quite golden. No head atop this one.
S: The nose is dominated by strawberry juice, quite sweet with significant amounts of sugary sweetness left over. Pears are few and far between, adding just a hint of sweetness.
T: The ale itself is fairly unremarkable, light and airy without any memorable aspects. The fruit juice and essence save the day. They add a strong sweetness, dripping with sugars. This time, both fruits make appearances. The strawberry is dominant but sweet pears, dry and tangy, also float around. Confirming that this is not Fruit Funk, there was no funkiness to be found.
M: The mouthfeel, apart from the fruit juice, is mundane, a pale (blonde if not for Ommegang's prediliction towards Belgian styles) ale that is very relaxed. The fruit, while intriguing if not out of place, makes the ale memorable.
D: Any chance to try a new Ommegang beer, I'll grab it. Pears and strawberries are an interesting choice, so I had a second glass. Almost reminded me of my years-ago love affair with Pete's Strawberry Blonde.
