Served on-tap at BCTC.
A: The Belgian porter is a dark brown color that could easily pass for black resting under an off-white head.
S: The nose is chocolate and roasted malt with a focus on the toasted bread/roasted aspect.
T: A run-of-the-mill porter, lots of dark flavors and roasted bread. There isn't much in the way of spices to make this Belgian. Even the porter flavor is somewhat thin and reserved, never grabbing my attention.
M: The porter has the requisite dark flavors but it never really sets things off. Could use a more pronounced Belgian yeast effect.
D: Not the best offering, one that may need to go back to the lab. I'd start by toning up the coffee and chocolate aspects.
