Short review from notes.
Thanks to Sprinkle at Crown Liquors in Indy for busting this out for a Xmas eve tasting!
Pours a medium brown with little head. Smells are roasty chocolate, malts, some Belgian yeast. Tastes are slight roasted malt, a hint of coffee, slight green apple, some yeast and a nice warming finish. Mouthfeel is a little sticky, perfect carbonation and drinkability is high. Leaves a nice warm aftertaste. Very good beer that I'd love to try again.

Batch #1 bottled on January 6, 2010. Bottle 65 of 101.
From the brewer, "A British-Belgian hybrid. British-style malt background with Ommegang proprietary Belgian yeast. Brewed to typically higher Belgian ABV and carbonation levels. Look for full carbonation, maltiness, light hops, carefully moderated bitterness, along with estery character from our yeast. Serve above 55 degrees in a wide glass. Porter (Sorta) kicks off our 2010 EXCLUSIVE BEER PROGRAM. We'l brew a minimum of six new exclusive beers. They'll be released on a bi-monthly basis. We know. Belgians don't often brew porters but we made an exceptions for ourselves. Why? Because we can."
Beer is dark brown to black and completely clear. Carbonation is moderate and there is a serious head on this thing. The head eventually falls away leaving some lacing on the glass.
Beer smells sweet like candy, caramel and malts. Very awesome.
Its pretty sweet for a porter. There is no ash or roast in this at all. Its highly carbonated in the mouth. Lots of nice esters from the yeast and the beer is mildly bready. Very nice. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this beer.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
