This is a pretty solid offering, still bitter and hoppy but the raspberries do come through which is the whole point. I think this was a better job than a lot of the grapefruit ipas do and with a more interesting fruit choice for the style

Brewery Ommegang "Neon Boodles"

Notes via stream of consciousness: So what is this? Tropical raspberry hazy IPA? Does it have real raspberries in it? Reading the label I'm not even sure. It reads "...and drizzled with raspberry haze", whatever that means. It does say that it's got Citra, Mosaic, Mandarina Bavaria, and Amarillo hops in it. Let's see what it looks like. I was expecting it to be pink but it's actually a hazy golden beneath a massive head of antique-white foam. It's teeming with plumes of tiny bubbles and I can see particulate floating around. I'm guessing it might be this carbonated because it's past it's "best by" date. The aroma is mild and berry-like. I generally expect more aroma in a dry hopped beer, but OK. There's definitely raspberry in the flavor and I can't tell if it's real or artificial. Oh, I forgot to mention that this is their "Neon Rainbows" with added raspberry. But wait a minute, that doesn't make sense, the hops are different. What did the label say? "The enchanting unicorn of a beer, Neon Rainbows, has taken the raspberry plunge...". Hmmm. OK, back to the beer itself, I'm getting some orange, and a bit of lemon-lime, but it's mostly raspberry. That's OK, but again, I was kind of expecting more from a "TROPICAL RASPBERRY HAZY IPA". On the other hand, I can hardly argue against that description as it fits it to a T. The malt is sweetish, wheaty, and I think, a little oat-like. It's got a moderate to median bitterness and it's well balanced, finishing dry in the end. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp-then-smooth. It's really easy to drink, and except for the 6.8% alcohol and sweetness I'd imagine you could drink a lot of these if you wanted to. Oh, I forgot, the head retention was excellent as was the lacing. It left a ring with each sip that bled into the next ring leaving an almost complete wall of foam. Back to the overall, I'm not sure that I see this as a beer you'd want to drink in the dead of winter, but neither is it a summer beer. It's basically a year 'round beer except for those really cold days. Nicely done.

Very interesting…has raspberries but subtle. Taste them up front then more the tropical flavors and fairly mild bitterness. Really refreshing but probably wouldn’t drink more than one in a session. Good thirst quencher for summer. For really good raspberry ale I prefer Founder’s Blushing Monk but this is still nice.

"Best by"date but no canning date. Boo, hisssss for that. Pours a hazy gold color with the merest hint of some pink. Others might say a golden tan. 2 finger head in a tall tulip recedes to nothing within a couple minutes. No lacing worth noting. Smells of hops with suggestion of raspberry. Same flavor. Disappointed in the thin-ish mouth feel, but the finish is clean. The drinking experience is pretty consistent with can description...hurrah for that. A decent option if you want somethin with a berry twist on a hazy, yet not over-the-top raspberry.

When I saw who the Brewer was I knew I had to try it.... Very interesting and quite enjoyable.... Velvety smooth and great tasting... Raspberry is not overwhelming, as it should not be....nice!
