Look: It pours cooper that is slightly cloudy. It has an off white head with average head retention.

Smell: It has aromas of plums and cherries with some lighter belgian yeast elements in the background. There are some caramel notes as well.

Taste: The caramel is stronger in the flavor than in the aroma. The hops and some spiciness and clear in the flavor as well. There are some light plum and even lighter cherry. The Belgian yeast notes are well into the background in support.

Feel: It does have quite a pleasant alcohol warming feature with a finish that is slightly sweet, somewhat dry and slightly bitter.

Overall: I really like the combination of flavors and I found the finish to be quite enticing.

Can from Beer Wine Nation
Dark amber color with a huge frothy off white head that shows great retention. Bready toasty caramel maltiness with bits of earthy spice and fruit to counter. Lightly bitter earthy spices.

An okay beer. Very overrated. Milder version of three philosophers. I would rate closer to a 79.

Mahogany color. Big, white head. Caramel malt, dried fruits, Belgian yeast, and light hops in the aroma. Malty, yeasty, and flavourful taste. Balancing hoppy bitterness at the end. Not sure how this is a PALE ale...

Pours an effervescent honey/amber color with a thumb+ of ivory colored head. Below average head retention & lacing

S: Pears, white pepper, coriander

T: Follows the nose, some green banana, a little dryness & some phenols up front. Some Golden Delicious Apple notes, more green banana, some clove notes as this beer warms up. Finishes with green apple skins, green bananas, a little dryness & a kiss of treacle

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation

Good take on the style, fairly drinkable for what it is

A - Nice amber colored pour with a fair amount of tiny little yeasty floaties and a two fingered, off-white colored layer of creamy foam. Carbonation is moderate, steady, and tight.

S - Biscuity caramel malt along with some Belgian spiciness and yeastiness.

T - Caramel malt base that exhibits a slight bit of smokiness buried way in there, yeasty, biscuity / bready, light peppery, and Belgian spicy. Finishes with a light and pleasing bitterness to help dial back some of the malt sweetness which builds elegantly on the back end.

M - Big medium body with lots of light, prickly carbonation.

O - Really enjoying this and recommended.

Brewery Ommegang "Super Bolleke"
16 fl. oz. can "BEST BY 030625 L06062411:23 T3". Sampled on 082524.

Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy dark copper colored body displays a vibrant carbonation in hundreds of tiny rising bubbles. It appears that there's some particulate in suspension but it's hard to be sure with all of the bubbles rising so quickly. The head is a two-finger thick cap of off-white foam that's holding well, bolstered by the bubbles rising from beneath. In the nose is lightly peppery, caramelish, and mildly fruity with dried dark skinned fruit. The flavor delivers more sweetly caramelish malt that includes both golden caramel and darker, almost reddish caramel. The spiciness and dark fruitiness from the yeast remains. The alcohol has a mild presence and it's a touch vinous in a way. It's not that bitter, perhaps 25-30 IBUs, and there's just enough there to balance the malt. Keep in mind that this is a beer of 7.8% ABV and it's not dry. Ah, yes, I can now clearly see that there's plenty of particulate in suspension; that doesn't help it in terms of appearance. That's odd because this isn't that old. I shouldn't have turned the can upside down but I wanted to check on the best by date. It's rich, fairly complex, and satiating. I'm getting some banana, black raisin, sweet red cherry, plum, dried fig, a hint of peach or nectarine and even a suggestion of some kind of melon, the different caramels, demerara sugar, a regular grainy and bready maltiness, peppery spice, a more hoppy kind of spice, and some herbal and earthy notes. In the mouth it's full bodied, lightly zesty, and then creamy across the palate. I think it's an incredible beer! The aroma could maybe be a little bit better but it's really the appearance that brings it down. The particulate is bad, but beyond that although the head initially held up well it left very little behind in terms of lacing. The flavor and mouthfeel are great though. I wonder if they're selling this in Antwerp, and whether this is a one-off or seasonal beer. If you're not a fan of strong and malty beers this might not be for you but that doesn't concern me, I'm just rating it as I see it.

Poured into a narrow imperial pint glass: color is amber, great effervescence, light tan head presents one inch thick, head then dissipates to solid 1/4 inch top, some lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is sweet malt, caramel, bread, toast, then pepper yeast phenols, lighter fruit and banana.

Taste is sweet malt, caramel, bread, toast, biscuit, intermingled with pepper and clove, some bruit and hint of banana.

Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness and yeast spice.

Overall an exceptional brew - great to see a new entrant in the Belgian style - Ommegang should be kicking out fresh renditions of these more frequently.

Pours cloudy amber with a giant off-white head, looks like merengue with vanilla extract, excellent retention, webby lacing
Pears, green bananas, bready malt, sweet spice on the nose
Tastes like it smells, slightly sweet until the spicy, dry finish
Medium bodied, appropriately carbonated, very "moreish" for a beer of this strength
They need to cut it out with the neon dreams or whatever that horseshit is and get back to making beers like this.

Amber in color with a slight tan head. Nice lacing carresses the glass. Nose is a toasted caramel and malt. Taste was caramel, and then a spice flavor very similar to winter/Christmas ales, so maybe nutmeg or clove, but not overpowering. Nice bitterness across palate. Medium dry finish.
