16oz can, stemless glass. Pours a ruby reddish body, one finger white head, short retention and no lacing. Smell is sweet blackberries, without the fruity tartness, a bit of wheat, perhaps, light lemon. Not sure where the cake is here, but it's certainly enough to overcome any tartness that the blackberry addition would introduce. Flavour follows the nose- it does have a distinctly sweeter cake and white sugar sweetness to it on the palate. It's an interesting flavour, not so much cake but has a fair nuance to it outside of a kettle sour with blackberry. The cake takes off any sort of edge from the tartness, giving it a nice sweetness to it that clearly doesn't come from the malt. Medium lighter bodied, smooth with a slightly lower carbonation than a typical kettle sour, not too sweet- good balance.

Wow. A pastry sour brewed with cake and berries and it actually worked! It appeared ruby red with full translucence but no head. The aroma is amazing, white cake and more white cake. Literally. Smells like a Birthday party in a glass. Definitely some note of berries. Then the taste, I find it more berry forward with hints of vanilla and cake. Very fruity and sour bust still taking you back to that birthday party. Mouthfeel is lightbodied, deceiving when it has cake! Overall, it’s quiet like what they described: a pastry sour!
