poured from a 16oz can into a new glarus dimpled mug. pours a dark cola brown with a huge fluffy wet sand-colored foam head. gathers in the glass near black. lacing and a thin patch of foam remain throughout the session. beautiful looking pour. dark bread, yeast, slightly earthy hops on the nose. taste follows with an earthy, cocoa bitterness to the finish. i just love this style. dark and intimidating looking yet quite approachable and drinkable when you get into it. medium-full mouthfeel with the expected lower level of carbonation (for a lager). dare i say borderline refreshing yet with enough warmth to go with a colder late autumn day. really good!
