Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The brew pours a medium brown color with a puffy head of light brown colored foam. The head fades quite quickly, leaving a touch of spotty brown lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a caramel and toffee mixed with a decent showing of milk chocolate and crème. Along with these smells comes some notes of a buttery biscuit smell as well as a bit of coffee and char and a bit of char and wood.
Taste- The taste starts out with a toasted brown bread flavor mixed with some caramel and a touch of molasses. Other flavors of coffee and chocolate are mixed in there as well and combined with a bit of crème to give a light milk chocolate latte note. The flavor is slightly sweeter upfront, but gets a bit more bitter as more coffee and some char and wood come to the profile. At the same time milk and caramel fade a bit, and with a touch of nut, one is left with a moderately toasty and sweet dark taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and heavy for a 5 % abv brew, with a lower carbonation level. For the style and the tastes, the feel is appropriate and makes for an easy but slower sipper.
Overall - A pretty decent brown overall and one to at least try if you have the opportunity.
