V-Factotum is located northwest of downtown Denver in an urban neighborhood setting. The space inside is pretty small with a bar that seats maybe ten people and a few tables out front. The decor is industrial chic style, but the place is pretty plain. The taproom was mellow on Thursday around dinner time and the crowd when I visited was mostly neighborhood people. Chill is the best word to describe it, which is kind of nice compared to the more hyped up places around town.
Q-I tried three beers and only enjoyed one, the marzen. I actually liked that beer quite a bit, but the other two -- a raspberry lime sour and a whiskey BA Belgian dark ale were not very good. Maybe this is one of those places that can nail the flagship styles, but not the more experimental stuff?
Ser-The lone bartender was very friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. He was prompt and his pours were good (not great). Glassware was specific to the style.
Sel-While I did not like two out of the three beers I tasted, I will give Factotum credit for having a big selection. I think there were over ten different styles on tap with everything from a NE-style IPA, to a marzen, to a stout, to a BA Belgian, etc.
O-I liked the neighborhood vibe here, and I thought the marzen was above average, but the other beers were a let-down. My advice is to approach Factotum with caution.

neat place up here in the highlands, surprised its taken me so long to get in. i love the concept, have some homebrewers come in and learn to use the big system and make their recipes, and then share them with everyone on tap. i guess they make some of their own beers, and these were admittedly the better of their offerings, but they had some neat stuff, a carrot ginger ipa, a cool coffee beer, and a big black ipa. lots to choose from, maybe ten beers on tap, eclectic and exciting, if not flawlessly executed. cool space too, big high vaulted wood beam ceilings and a spacious patio out back, a room to play some ping pong, with the brew house in the back. comfortable and fun vibe, very casual and carefree feel in here. the dude behind the bar was fantastic, not only was he real liberal with the samples, but he was very engaging and friendly, eager to talk about the place and the beers. really enjoyed my few hours at the bar with him. the community here in denver needed a place like this. its way cool to bring ideas to life from so many more brewers than just one head guy, and it shows with a real diverse beer list. i will be back for sure. absolutely worth checking out if you want a little something different.
