if you dont mind your ipa a bit malty and old school, this is quite good, even though i havent seen it around much and nobody seems to be talking about it in the area, its solid ipa. a little redder in color, almost amber looking, and with a nice lace white head from the tap into the pint glass, appealing, clear, and bubbly. it smells and tastes like cooked crystal malt, a little caramelized but not overly sweet, traces of a european, specifically english character to the malt, but its not heavy, bready, or tiring. instead, the hops pick it up nicely, and while there is some grain sugar and hop oily swirling, the hops cut the malt and bitter and crisp this at the right moments. grapefruit and orange peel notes are there but mild, tempered further by the grain, almost a red pale ale type rather than american ipa, some might call it conservative, but i liked it a lot and thought it was pretty well done. a nice hangover ipa and a fine companion to a hearty meatball sub! these types of beers are dying out, but this is better than its peers.

12 oz bottle, consume before dating on the packaging

Pours hazed medium amber, minor head and nice looking fine sheeting and strands of lace.

Fresh, minty hopped up nose.

Fresh tasting, generally worthy and solid IPA.

Hops on the minty and citric side....nice brew, well worth a try...or two

Pours a light copper color with a two finger white head. Aroma is caramel, biscuit, bread, and earth/grass. Taste follows with caramel, toffee, earth, biscuit, grass, faint floral quality, and bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth. Overall, I think this leans more English than American, with a big caramel malt backbone, but it has some American qualities with the bracing back end bitterness.

Poured into tulip.

Appearance: Pours a clear rich copper color with a foamy head in line with the style. Pretty good retention and lacing. Kind of has the look of a DIPA, despite its ABV.

Smell: Pleasantly surprised on first whiff right from the bottle. Resinous, piney aroma. Once poured into the glass, I think the aroma is the beer's shortfall, however. It's pleasant, but doesn't really grab you like some other IPAs can. No date on bottle, but it's a new arrival at local KS liquor store. If it's older, then that may have impacted the aroma some.

Taste: Very good flavor and the bitterness hangs for a while in a good way. I'd say the malt sits quietly in the background as it should, letting the hops come through. Little hint of alcohol. Wish they listed on site what hops went into it.

Feel: Medium, clean and dry. No issue with carbonation with me. Seems perfect for the style.

Overall, happy with this one. Not elite or special, but a solid offering. I'd try again, and would like to find on tap sometime.

Poured into a Duvel tulip.

The beer is a thick, opaque light copper color with a light cream colored head that recedes to a light film. Lacing is light watery spots. The aroma is mostly spicy, woody, with faint citrus. The beer tastes of spicy hops with grapefruit citrus and a peppery finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and dry.

Overall, this is par for the course for this brewery. Just on the outside of a 4 rating, but not regrettable. I'm a little disappointed that it's not better, being a Kansas native and the label art is downright boring.

I don't see any bottle date.

Appearance: Brilliant clarity in a medium gold colored body with a thick white foamy head. Good retention and lacing.

Aroma: It has a light dank earthy hop aroma with a bit of pine resin. It smells very good.

Taste: It has an excellent bread crust flavor mixed with pine flavor. It tastes great. Very good bitterness as well. The bitterness just lingers on the palate for a long time. I really enjoy the flavor of this beer.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is nice and dry but it feels under-carbonated. It has a well formed head but it just rests on the palate. I noticed there wasn't a lot of visible carbonation when I inspected the glass while drinking.

Overall: It's a very good IPA with a few rough spots. It's not a beer I would jump up and down recommending but it is enjoyable. I would pick it up again.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of strong resin-y hops, sweet malt, slight alcohol, hint of pine, hint of pale malt, and a hint of earthy malt. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of slight earthy malt, sweet malt, slight pale malt, resin-y hops, slight pine, and slight alcohol. Overall, well blended, decent body and appearance, a little better than average IPA.
