It looks much like a porter, with its black coffee color and copious biege head. Then, there's a roasted malt aroma, although it's not as robust as in a good porter/stout. The biege head is lasting, although it leaves almost no glass. The taste is a good light roasted malt one. Not nearly as complex as one of the ales, be it stout or porter, but definitely an improvement on the typical lager. As a lager, the mouthfeel is much lighter than most ales. Not at all bad, this will underwhelm those looking for a definitive taste in their beer. What this would work best at is proving the color of a beer has nothing to do with its poignant taste.

Cola black with two fingers of creamy, slow-forming khaki-colored head that leave a small cap and sheets of lacing.
Big milk chocolate and roasted malts in the nose, as well as a whiff of carbon dioxide that detracts from it a little.
Roasted malts and some Yoo-Hoo watery chocolate milk going in the taste. Honestly, it's a bit creamier and more ale-like than I expected. Hint of black cherry / plum as it warms. Pretty clean, semi-dry aftertaste in which the carbonation plays a roll.
Light bodied feel with strong carbonation that's a half a hair higher than I'd prefer, but not over the top.
Very easy drinking, but it's more chocolate milk-ish than I'm looking for in the style. Not bad, but not one I'm likely to revisit often at this price point.

on draft at brewery, in 16 oz tulip glass
black in color, but light sneaks in the corners, thin white head. mild roasty aroma, mild chocolate. taste is moderate in flavor, so it's easy drinking, thin to medium bodied. good balance
