Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is murky light straw, really does look like a thin custard like milkshake. Head is bright white and presents at least 1 finger thick and lingers very well.
Smell has some funkiness to it, hard to tell if this has aged just a touch long but slight sourness, maybe from the hop selection coming through with other interactions.
Taste at first seemed more low bitterness, hazy ipa without much fruitiness. As it warms the vanilla becomes more prominent. It is well incorporated and complimented by the malt/grain profile that is quite smooth. Hops provide some slight citric and maybe earthy character but otherwise are limited in flavor. ABV is hidden very well.
Mouthfeel is quite good with pleasant low to moderate carbonation, light sweetness, and enough bitterness to counter the lactose.
Overall an interesting brew, my first 'milkshake ipa' but it seems well done and interesting enough to seek out another in this style.

DIPA with vanilla
on draft at the brewpub, in 10 oz snifter glass
appears very hazy to the point of being opaque, very light yellow in color. white head. aroma and taste is heavy on vanilla, definitely does come across as creamy. moderately sweet. medium bodied, softer feel.
