Pours black with a small brownish head that disappears quickly. Aroma is of roast and red wine, which is weird but not bad. Apparently this is aged on oak and it must get it from there. Tastes of light roastiness, sweetness and again that red wineyness, with a little bitterness. No bourbon that I could discern. A little light feel for the ABV with not much carbonation. Not what you'd expect from the description but interesting, they got a "bourbon oaked" stout to taste completely different from everything else in this category.

Black coffee brown with a nice light tan head sits the stout in a clear glass Imperial pint mug. It's just left a pint can. The aroma is of mild roasted malt and faint bourbon notes. This crosses the tongue in a velvety way. It's incredibly rich and smooth in body. The taste is sweet, as that burnt coffee aspect common among some stouts is completely missing, even at the finish. Amazingly, there's no alcohol bite, nor trace of tannin or bourbon character. It's surprising that something this rich leaves almost no glass lacing. This is for those that like their Imperial Stouts sweetly malted and silky smooth. It will disappoint, but not greatly, those that like more of a roasted malt aspect, or more of a hop inclusion. Don't be misled by the "bourbon aged" description on the label. In a blind test taste that wouldn't be noticed.
