Highly carbonated, a normal pour from a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug resulted in more than three inches of khaki foam. It lingers above a black coffee colored brew. The aroma is vaguely sweet, without the roasted malt character of many stouts. None of the listed ingredients stand out, to the nose, in a noticeable way. But they're there for the taste. This is a desert stout and it doesn't shy from delivering something sweet. With carrots and brown sugar added, no surprise here. You really can get a little of the earthy sweetness of the carrots and walnuts. The cinnamon and nutmeg are there in very tasteful levels. What dominates the taste is the sweetness, fairly common in Imperial Stouts, here with a dose of brown sugar added. What makes this thoroughly enjoyable, at least for one at a time, is the wonderfully rich and smooth body. The glass lacing is nice, the potent ABV virtually unnoticed and the first burp after downing one will probably remind you of carrot cake. Its only flaw is that the finish gets a little sticky, no play on the name of the brewer, because of all the sweetness. Hey, it's a desert beer.
