Experimenting the versatility of Kveik yeast, we brewed up a kettle sour consisting of wheat, rye, and munich with a hefty whirpool of Cryo Mosaic. Dry hopped with Meridian, this presents aromas of heavy citrus and berries, enticing the palate with lemon, pineapple and subtle spearmint flavors.

32 ounce crowler into tulip glass, filled on 8/2/2019. Pours moderately hazy deep golden/orange/amber color with a small fairly dense and flufy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy lemon, lime, mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread dough; with light notes of biscuit, toast, rye, peppercorn, pine, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, fruity/acidic/light spicy yeast, and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy lemon, lime, mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread dough; with light notes of biscuit, toast, rye, peppercorn, pine, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness; lactic tang/tartness; and rye spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of juicy/tart/tangy lemon, lime, mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, toast, rye, peppercorn, pine, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, fruity/acidic/light spicy yeast, and bready malt flavors; with and awesome malt, bitter, tart, tangy, spiciness balance; wish zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/tart/tangy notes after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, fairly acidic/tangy/tannic, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6%. Overall this is an awesome sour IPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, fruity/acidic/light spicy yeast, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly acidic/tangy/bitter/spicy/drying finish. Great soft feel for the style. Awesome Mosaic/Meridian profile. Awesome balance of super juicy hops, fruity Kviek yeast, and Lacto complexity; with a nice sized wheat/rye/Munich malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering acidic/tangy dryness. A really enjoyable offering, an impressive style example as expected.
