Poured into a Bruery tulip. From the can: “Fruited Sour Ale with banana, coconut, vanilla, and white chocolate.” Gifted to me by a friend, who doesn’t know that I loathe banana. I was going to regift it, but being relatively open minded, figured I’d at least give it a sip or two.
The semi-vigorous pour yields a murky beige-yellow, with a head that dissipates into a nice ring around the glass.
Banana and vanilla dominate the nose, along with funky Belgian-y esters and some bubblegum
Taste follows; no coconut that I can tell, get mostly vanilla and the white chocolate, with the banana definitely playing a role, but not enough of a role to turn this banana-hater off.
Another really good one from Ascension. IMHO, a brewery that continues to fly under the radar here in MI. These guys are the real deal.
Definitely gonna finish this one.
