On tap, listed as a smoked beer in root beer barrels. With the wild ale listed here, it was so weird I had to try it.
Pours a dull medium dark brown. Head is lacking, though there is a thin ring of bubbles around the edge.
Nose does have a little bit of the three main aspects of the description: root beer, light smoke, and a tang of sour apple. The sweet root is the main player.
With flavors, the sour apple - tart Granny Smith - hits first. A very light tingle of carbonation leads to the root beer note, though the sour doesn’t leave. In the back of the throat is the lightest wisp of smoke. The wild ale is the main player, but the root beer does linger in the after taste.
Interesting, and such a strange concept, not sure how “to style” rate it. If you want a weird sour ale experience, give it a whirl.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
