look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75
The appearance was a fairly dark brown close to black in color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head. Dissipates evenly at a nice pace to leave some messy foamy lace. The aroma had some roasty coffee beans, some dark chocolate, vanilla beans and a delicate earthy hoppiness, not really bitter or spicy, just there. The flavor briskly touches through the previously mentioned aromas somewhat sweet but also a delicate roastiness trying to invade. Some aftertaste of the roast, and touching through the vanilla. Quick roasty to abrupt vanilla finish. The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt appropriate. Overall, pretty nicely balanced porter that I wouldn’t mind having again.
