Released on 12/13/23 as the 9th stout in the 12 Stouts of Christmas lineup for 2023.
This one doesn’t look quite as good as all the others; the head dissipated much more quickly and appeared a little more oily as I poured it into the glass.
But what it may lack (albeit slightly) in appearance, it more than made up for on the nose. Smells of thick dark chocolate fudge mingled with creamy vanilla frosting. It smells EXACTLY like the sweet dessert I grew up with.
The taste follows that exact pattern and borders on too sweet; although I feel idiotic complaining that a beer modeled after a cake is too sweet.
This one somehow feels a bit thinner than the others I’ve had from this year’s lineup too.
In the end it’s a very solid addition to the lineup, and I’d rank it in the top third.
