16 oz. Can. 1/25/18. Opened 3/9/18 Zwickelbier ipl.
A practically clear, lively golden color, 3" high, pure white foam cap. Bubbly, dense and lacy. A thick, clumpy foam cover last throughout with nice lace sticking to the glass.
A very densely sweet caramel malty aroma is pretty intense. The lager aroma brings a honey-soaked white bread thing to the nose. Dense tropical fruity hops layer up on top of the malt, with sour biscuit and minty herbs underneath. Very dense boozy sweetness, otherwise pretty interesting.
The lager style sweet bready malt thing pretty much dominatee. I mean, if you like dense, light German lagers, this one's for you. A big malty complexitybovrr a very light, golden appearance. Very smooth, almost laid-back feel and body texture.
Almost flat, malty bready effect, big malt with herbal and earthy hops...
Lager yeast is sour, herbal and bready. I was hoping for a much bigger hop presence...I find nothing hoppy here. Mostly malty lager with some light, bright, earthy hops. Complexity is a bit low, and the overall balance is just odd. If you concider the German Zwickelbier style, this is actually pretty right on. The sour-tangy, malty leftovers gets some getting used to and tends to linger.
Radiant Robot is all strange maltiness with sour leftovers. Slick, cloying, sticky....weird vibe. Reboot.

This IPL is packaged in an attractive yellow/black 16 oz. can that caught my eye on the bottle shop shelf this week. I hoped the contents would live up to the packaging and, after tasting, can happily say that it is one of the best new products from a NH brewery that I have tasted this year. I'm a big fan of IPL's but this is the first canned Imperial Pale Lager that I've seen available and I'm hoping it's not just a seasonal. The can indicates it's a Zwickelbier IPL. I'm not an expert on that style but can say that this Imperial version has a primarily citrus taste and, given the 7.2% ABV, is not lacking in body and taste. Definitely a uniquely tasting product when compared to the usual India Pale Lager. I'll definitely be a repeat purchaser.

From a 16 oz. can with a canning date of 1/25/18. Sampled on 2/22/18.
The pour is a slightly cloudy golden yellow with a modest lasting white foamy head. Lacing. It is unfiltered so that accounts for the cloudiness.
The aroma emits a zesty citrus character with a companion floral character and a lot of white breaded malts.
Medium and smooth body.
The taste brings out the same citrus character but the bready malts play up evenly and lead to a moderate dry bitterness at the finish.
