Ive been sitting on this beer for about 3 years. Picked up at the brewery and in my cellar since. Its a 16 oz can poured into my snifter. 17% canned on date 9/5/2017.
the beer opens and this can is FULL, instantly some beer is at the opening and oozing onto top of can. No gushing just sheer volume.

The beer pours a slightly cloudy caramel to chestnut color and has garnet red highlights when I hold the glass to a light source. Very minimal beige head foams up and quickly is nothing more than a wispy edge layer. Seems to be fed by very fine streams of carbonation rising from the bottom of my glass. there are a few large white yeast chunks that escape the can into my glass. Ill let those settle back to the bottom.

The aroma is deep caramel and brown sugar with some figs and red grape mixing together. I get some light bourbon and vanilla notes mixed in as well. Not really any hop character and surprisingly not really and general booze spiciness or fusol notes.
First sip reveals similar flavors as the nose advertises. Lots of caramel and brown sugar, bourbon and sweet vanilla. I get figs and a bit of molasses here and a large dose of black peppery fusol alcohol warmth on the finish. I dont find hops anywhere on this beer.

The texture is slightly sticky and has a medium body with very fine yet very tingly carbonation. Everything about this beer adds up to a sipper and I will be sipping this much more like a liquor than a beer. Will take at least an hour to finish my glass.

Thanks to quirk6 for this 16 oz. can dated 9/5/17 which arrived recently via BIF. Split with my wife so I don’t die.

The pour is a sediment-filled reddish brown that doesn’t look like it would support life. No head. Even half an hour removed from the fridge, there’s a scent of light caramel. Nothing else.

Hog River Barrel Aged Barleywine is spppicy hot. Tons of caramel was harmed during the creation of this beer, & there’s a large, alcoholic, spicy whiskey kick that hits right under the sternum. Thick & scarily drinkable.

Super simple but very tasty. Good beer.

This one absolutely has to had at room or warmer temps. Out the fridge WOOF! Once mellowed it's magic. No head....foggy caramel appearance..stingy spicy scent that mellows when warm...sweet relaxing full bodied brew...WORTH trying!
