I picked up this beer at the brewery in Oct 2021. It was canned 2-18-2021. Got lost in shuffle a bit. Cant believe I am adding it to the BA DB too.
The beer is poured at cellar temp into my snifter and pours a dark coffee brown color, but no light passes through my glass.
A dense beige head of 1.5 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy edge layer and some surface lacing. The surface lace and island sticks around for sampling.
The aroma is some light milk chocolate, some roasted malts, some roasted peanut shell and a good dose of sweet peanut butter. No real surprises here, and no hop profile, nor ABV reveal on the nose. Overall the nose is spot on, but a little more mild than I anticipated.
First sip reveals a light to medium body and very soft and fine carbonation. Beer feels smooth and drinks fast for a bigger stout.
Flavor is some milk chocolate and then peanut butter sweetness that lingers a bit. Not really any of the roasted nutty flavor here though.
Hops absent and ABV hidden.
I drink this beer pretty fast, its fine and not flawed but also unremarkable for a style that I tend to really like. Id try it again, fresher to canning date.
