Rindby 16/7 2020. 75 cl bottle packed in paper from Vinlageret Fanø, Hovedgaden, Nordby. Old lighthouse on the paper. Boasting about eight World Beer Awards in 2016.

Pours opaque, dark brown with a big beige head. A bit bubbly. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. No lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a medium strong sweet odor mingling with some sourish and earthy notes. Brown sugar, toffee and caramel. Lightly roasted malts. Almost citric sourness. Leather and shoe polish.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, greasy, smooth, almost flat texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a light bitter undercurrent. Lingers for a bit.

Pretty light Stout. Sweet but not without balance. Smooth but flat. Not bad - but with a lot of “buts”.

330 ml paper-wrapped bottle, from Edeka Sophienhof, Kiel. ABV is 5.6%. Black colour, tan head. Aroma of roast malts and cold coffee. Light bodied. Roasty dry flavour, coffee notes, a hint of charcoal. Far from a sweet stout.

Pours a deep brown to black coloration with a thick, creamy, beige head. Smells of roasted malts, coffee, caramel. Taste is an odd mixture of full-bodied, roasted malts and a light, slightly bitter, dry hoppiness. There are aromas of coffee, caramel, chocolate and subtle notes of dark fruits. Also a slight lactose note in the aftertaste. An Oatmeal Stout, as declared on the back label, this is not. I'd classify it as more of a Baltic Porter, but I think it doesn't really know itself what it really wants to be.
