Pours jet black with one finger of thick, creamy, mocha-colored head. Smells of roasted malt, vanilla, sponge cake, brown sugar, cinnamon, and rum. Taste follows the nose with brown sugar, sponge cake, vanilla, and rum taking center stage, roasted malt and slight bitterness providing the backbone to prevent this from being too sweet. Cinnamon isn't overwhelming and provides a nice hint of spice. Moderately carbonated, but on the thinner side than I would like. Finish is slightly bitter that turns sweet with brown sugar and rum notes continuing to flow through.

16oz can. No dating information found.
Black colored body, with a mahogany back lit edge. One strong finger of mocha brown head, and this sticks around as a thin cap and high ring. Leaves behind connected webs of lacing.
Aroma is indicative of the sweeter side, with vanilla and brown sugar. The spice of cinnamon is also expressive.
Taste is not as sweet as the nose, but the sweetness from vanilla and brown sugar is evident. Spicy cinnamon mixes with milk chocolate. The sweet flavors extend into the aftertaste.
Less than medium mouthfeel, with a slight stickiness. Low bitterness, more sweet and spicy. Good carbonation.
Well blended and pleasurable.

Pours black with a thin layer of dark colored foam. Aroma is coffee (though this isn't a coffee beer), brown sugar and cinnamon. Taste is quite thin, with really only vanilla present. Quite odd. Really, I'm unable to detect much of anything else. Perhaps a bit of the brown sugar comes through at the end if I concentrate hard. It's good but not what I was expecting.
