this is one of the better florida wild beers i have had on vacation this week. its much better and more complex than their grapefruit gose, and makes me want to track down a few more crooked thumb wild brews before i have to leave. hazy and bubbly this one sits in my wine glass, not holding a ton of its original fizzy heady from the bottle, but still very active looking. its just ever so slightly faded pink, a faint violet hue here, but its minimal, just enhancing the wheaty looking liquid with a drop of color. aroma is newer brett, a good funky strain though thats well established despite the relative lack of maturity. i get no wood at all, and so the common vehicle for bretty funk is absent, but i like the yeast here in isolation, it really smells and tastes rustic and fantastic. the plums add a sort of generic fruity sweetness to this, but also a cool tang from the skins that suggests real whole fruit was used. its skins of fleshy and more plumy in the flavor than in the nose, and the brett helps it all finish on the dry side. really cool complexity to this, subtle fruity, honest earthy dry cereal malt base, and a thread of estery belgian character that enhances the plum and flashes a little pear as well. carbonated like a soda. overall a fun beer, unexpected and different and very well executed. i will look for more of their stuff while i am here!

Hazy amber-red with a minimal bubbly mat.
Smell is light overall, with touches of plum and orange.
Taste is tart and tangy orange and plum with a little funk, oak, and black pepper.
