Far Gohn Brewing Company

Ordered the Haus Light beer. Flat. Politely returned to the counter and said that the beer was flat and would it be possible to get something else. NO. The manager insisted the beer was not flat. Hmmm poured with zero head. No effervescence on palate. No visible effervescence. If it wasn’t completely flat it was close. I was surprised the manager refused to replace it based on my polite request. I brought seven friends to Far Gohn as a first time visitor to Culpeper and was so excited to find a local brewery we could walk to. What a bad impression made by manager Alicia. If I was the owner I’d want to know that she isn’t doing you any favors.

The only place open in downtown Culpeper. Pretty small and tight with a makeshift patio in the parking lot. Business was steady and seemed to be a local hangout. Mugs line the ceiling, so they have a lot of regulars. Pizzas are available and it was good. Beers reflected a wide variety of styles. I only had one and it was just passable. definitely worth a stop.

What every town needs is a friendly brewery where you can sit and talk about beer, sports or politics. This just might be the place. I travel all around Virginia and I am always looking or a local place to stop (drove by it the first time without seeing it). No food (you can bring your own), but good beer with an interesting twist. A like that these folks have a good selection that includes a variety of German styles.
