Crafted with our Belgian yeast strain and a substantial percentage of this year’s hop harvest, “Toby” is a Belgian Strong Ale that balances American hoppyiness with, smooth Belgian flavor. “Toby,” like its namesake, is a blend of traditional Europe and modern America. We hope you enjoy the layers of flavor we crafted into each sip.

Pous cloudy, golden in color with a lively , tiny white head. Nose is sweet, slightly pungent with a floral hint. Taste is honey, biscuity and nutty flavor. Slight warmth from ABV.

Hazy golden color, honey/brett odor to it (very pleasant), tastes like a very good strong belgian ale (Chimay gold comes to mind), good mouthfeel and overall this is a great beer from a local brewery in lower NYS.

this is from a small local brewery not to far from me so I had to give it a try
Look Nice Hazy dark golden look with a nice 1 inch head
Smell ...smells of slight peanutand other nuts and slight cherry slightly tart

this has a nice medium body not crazy carbonation
this is a good

sadly there are slight inconsistencies with the flavor I emailed the brewery and he explained the brewery uses fresh local honey so sometimes you might not get the nut flavor and aroma

Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) can into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint; no production info, but this is the first canning run by Duncan's Abbey.
A: Pours a hazy, dark gold to light amber color, more like tarnished brass, with a one to two finger, eggshell white head, long term retention to a half finger, and broad, down the side of the glass lacing.
S: Aromas of nuts, especially peanut, toffee, but also a touch of banana/clove and cherry (I thought). On the tart side of tangy, like a mixed ferment.
T: More semisweet than semidry. Flavors are cherry, honey, nut and toffee. Extremely well balanced bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with solid carbonation. Creamy, smooth, and full.
O: Duncan's Abbey has generally distributed (by keg) to local restaurants/bars. This may be their first entré into the canned beer market. This is a brilliant beer, so it is not a wonder it is a flagship for them. Just the right way to incorporate a touch of honey in a beer. Frankly, after tasting it, I wish I had purchased a case. Will head back to the distributor.

This is my first review so I hope this is helpful. I signed up just to say how much I enjoyed this beer. This is a local brewery for me but I was not familiar with it when I saw the cans in a local store. I love Belgian Ales and this is the best American version of a Belgian (think Kwak) that I have tasted. The fruity flavors come through and it did not feel as strong as the ABV rating.I will be buying more of this ASAP. (As far as the ratings above, I am really not sure what "feel" means, so I just put in a number to complete the review.)
