Pours a big beautiful deep ebony with a solid cocoa head. Great cloudy body and persistence.
Smell is chocolatey and lightly boozy, roasty. Not especially pronounced but a pleasant smell.
Taste is light chocolate and coffee up front. creamy roastiness in the main body. slight boozy bite on the tail end. Definitely unfolds a bit as it warms up but not in a necessarily positive way, gets a bit muddled. Also a sort of minty buzz is building up on my tongue
Mouthfeel is decent. Tows the porter-stout line hard, just coming down on the porter side.
Overall this is a decent beer. It's good enough but I doubt I'll finish the crowler. Flavors are good but combine a bit uncomfortably.
