Leading with Azacca and Citra hops, 3rd Turn's West Coast IPA shows a clever tropical flare to an otherwise citrusy and sharp bitterness.
Stylin' & Profilin' kicks off with an amber-orange hue and held in a moderate hoppy haze. As those unique hops bring a citrus, tropical and stone fruit scent in a slight citronella kind of way, along with notions of hemp, grasses and botanical herb. Slight sweetness early on the tongue deliver a light caramel, honey and granola upstart.
The middle palate shows a fleeting sweetness and blossoming hops as the fruity hop influences seem citrusy with orange and red grapefruit with a tropical taste of mango and papaya. With hints of lime kicking in late, the taste trends racy with peach and apricot. With a growing bitterness comes impressions of tea, verbena, spruce and a firm grassy bite.
Medium bodied and on a lighter and drier track, the beer's decidedly bitter finish is still smooth, crisp and refreshing with a long afterglow of citronella and peppery hemp.
