I was truly blown away by this beer! The smell is of roasted malt with a caramel brown head. The color is a beautiful pitch black but the taste is unforgettable. It has a full bodiness with a complex dark chocolate/bitter-sweet taste and a strong coffee finish. It's like an espresso/beer, but man is it tasty. One of my all time favorite taste experiences ever. It is worth the trip to Rock Island for this one, but unfortunately only when it is the occasional "feature beer." That part is a bit frustrating. This should be on their main menu...not just available once in a while.

Poured a great dark black color with a nice thick head and great lacing and retention.
Smell was a nice heavy coffee flavor with a nice burnt bitter chocolate mixing in nicely.
Taste was a very solid coffee stout offering. Nice coffe flavors mixing well with burnt malts and a good level of bitterness.
Mouthfeel was creamy and full, very nice and stout like.
Drinkability is good on this very nice offering from the Blue Cat.
