I obtained this 350mL single for 2030 Costa Rican colones (approx US $3.80) from the Auto Mercado supermarket in Tamarindo, CR, this afternoon. Code "2 Junio 2016 136.5" printed on the bottle. Also has a paper sticker which has a corner torn off of it but I think it says "136.5 02.06.16".
Pours a very murky, dark copper color. Brew puts up a 1/2" taupe head that settles after a minute to a thin whispy layer. with foamy meniscus along the glass. Carbo is apparent. Smell is mildly sweet, light malty goodness with some faint stone fruit undertones. Taste is also mild but well balanced and quaffable. Light sweet malts and a small hint of sour plum or cherry skin. Body has just the right amount of weight to it and it is balanced by a slightly robust carbonation but not too much. Overall a very well crafted and balanced brew. Very pleasing overall, nothing out of place. Nice job. Went down easily and I'd readily have another or several. Darker than the standard brews in this area but not too thick or inappropriate for the hot weather.

A: Dark orange in colour.
S: Smells like caramel, and kind of German.
T: Tastes like a hefe with a bit of caramel, although it's dry. Fairly bitter actually. Just a touch of earthiness.
O: Bit of a weird one, this.
