A crowler filled at the brewery on 10/05/17 poured in a Rock Cut stout glass.
Look- Pours a oily black with a few centimeters of light brown foam. A little lacing clings to the glass.
Smell- Chocolate cake batter, roasted malt, tobacco and cola. Some floral notes creep from the back.
Taste- Bakers chocolate, malted milk, tobacco, cola and a hint of floral hops in the finish.
Feel- Oily but slightly thinner than I like my stouts.
Overall- A mildly sweet and fudgey dessert beer with a slightly hoppy finish. It's definitely worth your while if you're in Estes Park.

On tap; poured into a 12oz snifter.
Appearance - jet black with no light penetrating! Thin, light brown head that recedes and produces a decent ring of lacing!
Smell - heavy malt nose, some roasted coffee and dark chocolate, though very mild.
Taste - very standard flavor profile for an RIS; malt forward, coffee, with a touch of chocolate.
Feel - medium to heavy body; somewhat dry finish; could use more complexity to help it stand out.
Overall - nice to see an RIS on the tap list of a new brewery, however, $5.50 for a 12 oz is a bit much, considering the lack of originality. Worth a try if you find yourself in Rockcut.
