On tap at Bird & Jim (Estes Park, CO), served in a shaker pint. Deep and clear, dark but brown, with a rocky head of tan foam. Aromas of toasty malt, floral hops, wet rocks and a kiss of wood smoke. More toasty malt in flavor, with sweeter caramel notes nicely balanced by drier earth, minerals and smoky notes, closing with a crisp bitterness. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A very drinkable brown ale, balancing its malty body with a terrific earthy, smoky, and crisply bitter profile.

A nice, solid, classic American brown ale with a good pop of smoke and very nice, lingering bitterness. Crisp but not too dry, simple but not boring. And it's good with pizza and barbecue.
