Can: Poured a black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of chocolate notes with some floral coffee notes. Taste is also a mix of chocolate notes with some floral coffee notes and residual sugar notes with faint almond notes. Body is a bit thin for style with good carbonation with no real discernible alcohol notes. Interesting mix but a tad too thin for the style and almond notes are hard to distinguish.

A- Thick looking, almost like motor oil, and basically black in colour. There isn't much of a head when pouring, with it being maybe a half finger in thickness, before the dark brown hued foam settles into a wispy ring of bubbles around the rim of the tulip. There is an equal disappointing amount of lacing, but rather an oily looking film.....nothing too special to look at.

S- This definitely has the aromas of freshly ground coffee beans, with a ground almond paste like sweetness! Wonderful background notes of dark chocolate, fresh cocoa powder, hazelnut truffle, marzipan, earthy orchard fruit kernel, creamy cooked chocolate pudding and a finish that is somewhat dry and of sweet charred malts. Quite enticing!

T- This has a sweet flavor overall that morphs on the palate from start to finish. The aromas of coffee, almond paste, dark chocolate, and hazelnut creme all shine through easily, with complimentary marzipan, milk chocolate, cafe au lait and heavy coffee cream showing up throughout. Towards the end, it changes, and becomes more traditional stout like, with bittering black coffee, ashy charred Earth, with the finish being sticky on the lips....evidence of the sugars that were in the almond extract.

M/O- Sticky sweet on the lips, as mentioned before, with medium full body, and a smooth low density carbonation. The drinkability is good on this one, with the full flavors feeling like I'm enjoying a nice coffee infused dessert.....with that said, I wouldn't have more than a pint of this in a sitting. Overall, I would buy this again, and feel the Blood Bros have done a great job with this sweet stout!

The first part is perfect. Pours gorgeous dark with a brown head that retains some of its luster. The nose is exquisite and both the amaretto and coffee comes right through. But the taste leaves wanting. It is more bitter (though the sweetness is clearly there, leaving your lips sticky) than I thought it would be and it's even somewhat sour, perhaps due to expired coffee.
Nice, but in the end I wouldn't have it again.
