Our latest imperial stout is packed with twice the coffee of any recipe we’ve created. The addition of nitro further elevates the mouthfeel of this incredibly smooth, chocolate-forward brew. We further added vanilla and caramel into the mix, making Double Pump into the dessert beer for the ages. Maybe we should have called it “Double Fist Bump”. In collaboration with Twin Sails Brewing and Sam James Coffee Bar.

Ah, another nitro beer. Nitro only really works with stout, though Blood Brothers did it with an IPA, with predictably bad results. But I digress. Ever since I had Peche Mortel nitro, I was hooked on the idea of a coffee stout presented this way, so here I go.
Yep, pours beautifully, forming a gorgeous light mocha head. The nose is spectacular. Creamy smooth mouthfeel as it should be, but wait. The caramel plus the vanilla is just too much. It's overwhelmingly sweet and syrupy. The coffee is cheap tasting, while the chocolate is buried. I know that this is a dessert beer, but I think they went slightly overboard and thus, this is off balance and even a bit nauseating.
I appreciate the workmanship and I gave marks accordingly, but sorry, this is just not my cup of, ahem, coffee.
(As an aside, this was mislabeled on this page as an oatmeal stout. It isn't. )

Pours jet black Guiness with decent crema collar. Rich and thick coffee forward nose with solid vanilla base - amazing. Super sweet vanilla forward bomb with Smooth finish. This is indeed a dessert so enjoy it as such but I’ll forgive myself for having it at 3 - it’s New Years!
