The third installment of 2021's Balam releases finds us with Sam James Coffee Bar lending the helping beans.
The beer pours nice, with a mocha head that only taps in to say hello and then off it goes. The nose is wonderful coffee, vanilla and chocolate mix.
A silky smooth feel introduces the vanilla, coffee and to a much lesser degree, bourbon. Like with the other two Balams, the vanilla is too dominant, though the coffee is slightly better. But the bourbon is too subtle.
Nice enough, but at $19, it better be nicer than nice, which this isn't. Let's hope that this year's Balam crop will be better.
