473 ml can served cold into a tulip glass. Canned November 3, 2022. Listed as a chocolate raspberry sour.
Appearance - Very dark the colour of cherry coke. A finger of tan head rests and dissipates within 1-2 minutes.
Smell - A little roasty and some indiscernible dark fruits. Could be raspberry but could be a cherry or plum or wildberry combo too.
Taste - Assertively tart up front, some sour raspberries with a chocolatey and slightly burnt finish. Interesting, but the up front tartness is too much for this to work cohesively and pleasurably with the chocolate. As it warms the tartness is dialed down, but a slightly minerally taste appears.
Mouthfeel - Medium-thin bodied, light on the carbonation, the best part of this brew.
Overall - Good concept and interesting attempt, the tartness up front is just enamel strippingly tart initially and the transition to chocolate finish is then abrupt. The feel and texture is pretty good, just wish the chocolate and raspberry combo was a bit more cohesive. Dial the tartness back from a 10 to maybe a 7 and this could be great.
