Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Date Stamp is 08/22/2023.
The beer pours jet black in color and allows no light to pass through my glass. There is a dark creamy tan head foaming up about 2 cm. The foam fades to a sturdy edge layer that remains through my sampling.
The aroma on this beer is robust and I can smell the beer from across the table. The nose is dark chocolate and a bit of roasted malt notes, but also quite a good dose of bourbon carries through. No hints of any hop character and the beer isnt overly boozy or hot on the nose.
First sip reveals a fairly thick body and very fine gentle carbonation. Texture is pretty coating and sticky across my palate.
Flavor is what the nose predicts with some dark chocolate and a bit of a milk chocolate note too. Not terribly sweet though. Bourbon comes in as well and this flavor lingers after each swallow. A bit of sweetness with the bourbon and also some toffee notes and a little vanilla. Hops dont show up here either. This is a bourbon barrel aged stout with no other real frills. Im enjoying this beer quite a bit and Im happy to had quite a bit in my glass still. Very nice one.

Another chilling can of BBA imperial stout arrived to be opened with care.
Pours black with a tiny, dark mocha head. The nose is of bourbon, figs, and raisins. The taste is mostly the same, along with a hint of oats. Very boozy, perhaps obviously.
A quality BBA imperial, though it doesn't reach the top level.
