Gael Brewing is a five minute drive south of Geneva, NY. The Irish cottage garden out front, and a view of Seneca Lake sets one’s head space for a theme. Outdoor seating allows one to take full advantage of the setting. The tasting room is relaxed with a small brewery vibe, spotless and well lit. Its charm includes whimsical hand painted murals featuring an Irish caricature. Overall, Gael Brewing is a refreshing place.
The server greeted us with a warm welcome, was knowledgeable, and enthusiastically answered our questions; balancing attentiveness with space allowing us to enjoy ourselves. The brewer checked in with a friendly greeting too.
We sampled five beers, all were very tasty, four had interesting twists, two came home in crowlers. And only two because they are within an easy drive for another time. Rye Bread Ale smells remarkably similar to... rye bread, and warmth allows the caraway seeds to be celebrated. Liam’s Irish Red Ale does have a light and welcome touch of smoke. Padrig’s Pilsner has an unexpected hint of tartness that really elevates the style. “Ah Me Joy” Porter is a remarkable variation on an Almond Joy bar, seriously from aroma to flavor it is all-in, I almost felt the bits of coconut in my teeth.
To be sure, I will stop by again. Fáilte means “welcome” and Gael Brewing is an excellent example of that concept.

This place is right along my running route, literally 2 miles from my apartment, so needless to say, I was excited to visit and give it a try. The variety of beers offered is pretty good; as is the quality. This is represented especially the Dry Stout and the IPA. Honestly, this place leaps and bounds better than Naked Dove, which is nearby in Canandaigua. GAEL's foremost focus is, as it should be, on the beer.
