An Imperial Stout to be reckoned with, Vlad the Impaler is a coal-black, high-gravity, high-alcohol ale with tremendous, complex flavours and aromas that hint at caramel, coffee, roasted nuts and a perhaps a wee bit of smoke with a monster mouthfeel and a warming finish.

Vintage 2022 per the bottom of the can.
This is like a base model beer. I think it would really be something if there were a few more options. Maybe some barrel aging? I just didn't get much character, certainly nothing like you'd expect from a big stout.

02/10/22 on the can Was actually quite amazed this one has some great carbonation I got a full half inch that pulled back to a sticky ring. Doesn't get more black than this its what hides within the shadows thats amazing, Smell is quite mild nothing really stood out for me roast most infidelity some smoke for sure but what stood out was no biting ABV smell no bittering hops. It smells pure. I'm either really in the mood for the style or this really achieved the balanced I hope for but 13% so smooth I take a good size sip no biting bitterness no cloying ABV. It doesn't really get too sweet either kind of in the middle ground of enjoyment. Yet I am blown away. At just 3 dollars a can its probably gone now but if I see it again I will revisit FOR SURE!

This is waaaay better on tap than from the can in my experience. The roasty flavors are much more balanced.

12 ounce can, canned or "laid to rest" as stamped on the bottom of the can on 21.09.15. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both pretty good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like burnt/charred malt, dark chocolate, molasses, caramel, earthiness and some anise. Starts of earthy/roasty with some sweetness picking up as the beer warms. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some coffee and pine flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew a lot, not often I can find a regular imperial stout that isn't barrel aged or packed with adjuncts nowadays. Definitely worth picking up!

I am trying this beer off the tapper as part of a six sample flight at The Daily Growler in Powell, Ohio. It poured an opaque dark with very very thin ecru ring head that left one ring of spotty lace...then was no more. The scent had common Russian stout notes....hints of molasses and caramel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with vanilla, dark chocolate, molasses, caramel/toffee presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

From the 12 oz can and poured into a snifter. This solid
little brew bought at Weiland's in Columbus pours a rich
obsidian with dark tea highlights and a nice head of tan foam
that subsides to a thick ring, thick clumping layer, and sports
some excellent lacing. Nose of dark cocoa, faint anise, herbal
and pine touched hops, and dark roast and char. Flavors
follow and exceed nicely with char laden cocoa, dark
fruit notes of raisin and blackberry appear nicely,
light anise, herbal and faint pine hops on the rear, and
touches of dark coffee. Very nice mouth feel; full
coating body, smooth, rich, low carbonation, and
a sweet, rich, full and warming finish.
Excellence!
Cheers

Looked amazing. Smelled amazing. Everything seemed like this was going to be a knock out beer. Ultimately, it was good not great. Boozy but so thin and overly smooth. The feel did not match the expectations for me and I just couldn’t come around on the taste to call this great. I would love to see this in a barrel aged version. I bet that could sort of tone out the flavors and approach great beer level. Not sure. Still excited about the brewery and trying their stuff again. Definitely defies my expectations for a Canton brewery.

Was recommended this by a guy at the local grocery store pointing out it was a great value. Just picked up a single @ $2.50/12 oz. Just stashed it in my beer fridge and broke it out as a Halloween weekend treat.
Poured it into a DFH tulip with a dark brown oily body over a dark tan head that took its time dissipating. Smell had some nice stout flavors over an alc presence. Taste undersold the alc in favor of complex malt tones like licorice and molasses. Mouthfeel gets dinged for an unexpectedly thin character.
This was an unexpected surprise out of Canton. Also a nice sense of humor on the write up on the back of the can. Here's some free advice to Royal Docks Brewing: bring these bad boys out in stovepipe cans like the rest of the heavy hitters.

12 oz can poured into a stemless wine glass.
Jet black, mocha colored head that quickly recedes leaving a small ring of bubbles around the rim of the glass.
Black licorice, dark fruits and booze on the nose and palate. Sweetness grows as it warms. Alcohol shows more in the nose than on the palate.
If you like black licorice/anise than you will like this. If not, than I highly doubt it. Obviously my rating tells you which side of the fence I am on.
