Also known as BA Vlad
Vlad is imparted a special finesse and elegance through a tertiary maturtation on a specially selected blend of American and French oaks that once held cognac, brandy and bourbon. The depth, intensity, and complexity of the flavor profile of this special release is a worthy tribute to our already notorious, bold and unapologetic Imperial Stout.
Every year we release a specially aged version of our much-loved Imperial Stout. Starting in 2019, though, we’ve got the room, so we’ve succumbed to the pressure and produced enough Barrel-Aged Vlad to put into broader, but still limited, distribution.

Barrel Aged VLAD brewed by Royal Docks Brewing Company, with an ABV of 13.40% This American Imperial Stout pours out of a 12oz Can into a pint beer glass. The color is a deep brown color with a small light brown head. The head to this brew goes away fast, not saying that is a bad thing. There is some light lacing to this brew. The s.ell is rich with deep roasted goodness. Lots of alcohol smells coming from this brew along with sweetness. You also pick up on roasted grains and malts in the smell as well. Now for the taste, it is Bold with flavors. You can definitely pick up on the 13.40% ABV in this brew. Lots of Whiskey notes mixed with Roasted goodness. The body of Barrel Aged VLAD is a heavy setting brew. There is a lot going on in this brew. For as strong as this brew is , the brew goes down nice an smooth. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a nice balance to it. The mouth feel is Bold, Whiskey, Rich, Roasted, Clean, Smooth an Refreshing.
This brew would go nice on a cool day or with dinner. Not a pounding brew by no means but it is enjoyable. Overall I am going to give Barrel Aged VLAD a solid 4 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the opportunity too. Royal Docks Brewing Company, did a real nice job with this American Imperial Stout.

Barrel Aged VLAD | Royal Docks Brewing Company. Poured from the can into a snifter, this has a three finger thick brown head, solid lacing, and a body reminiscent of a clear night sky.
Smells like chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and a touch of the booze one would expect from a brew such as this.
The bourbon note comes off strong right off the bat. Also the elements described in the smell; all coming to an undeniably boozy warmth. Less prevalent are leather, pipe tobacco & the oak itself.
Heavier mouthfeel with mild carbonation.
I'll rate Barrel Aged VLAD | Royal Docks Brewing Company with a 4.5.

Canned on 2/27/19. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a small light khaki head that quickly fades leaving okay retention and little lacing. The aromas have a nice subtle blend of bourbon and chocolate. Mild hints of vanilla and caramel. Malts are there. The flavors have lots of dark chocolate giving this one a pretty solid bitterness. More mild hints of vanilla. Lots of dark fruit in the mix. Some oak/wood. Some char. The bourbon definitely comes through. Some alcohol notes and flavors in the finish. It's slightly warm and hot, but not completely over the top. Malts do their thing. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side of full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's slightly smooth and makes for a nice sipper.
This is an alright barrel-aged stout. It's rough around the edges, but it's still ultimately enjoyable. Everything opens up as it warms up a bit. Nice dark chocolate presence. The bourbon is rough around the edges as well, but ultimately works. I personally like this one a little bit more than their regular "Vlad".

This is an aptly named killer brew from a new local brewer. I appreciate the effort.
It pours jet black with fine bubbles. It has a boozy licorice aroma - malty. The taste is a big boozy, bitter, hoppy and malty affair. It hits you big and keeps on hitting with a large after burn.
I don't know if will see this again at the store but I would consider getting more. It is a good value.
Recommended (but beware of Vlad the Impaler - he'll getcha).
