A deep garnet-black ale infused and aged for over a year in whiskey, bourbon and rum barrels with Ceylon cinnamon and Madagascar vanilla beans.

LOST YEAR SERIES: The year 2020 was the lost year; rare are the things which emerged better at the end than at the beginning. These four ales, laid down through all of 2020, are among those scarce exceptions. Hand blended and bottle-conditioned in 2021, they offer an inimitable taste of what might have been.

500 ml light blue wax capped bottle, no dating I noticed on it but I believe this was a March 2021 release. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with a couple inch tan head that stuck around a while. Seems really carbonated. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit, rum, oak and roasted malt. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some bourbon and burnt/charred malt flavors noticeable too. Mostly sweet tasting stout but not overpoweringly so. Barrel character seems stronger in the taste than it does compared to the aroma. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's smooth and a bit creamy and has a lot of soft carbonation. Once the beer settled down a bit it wasn't bad at all, but it was too much carbonation for me at first. Overall I liked this brew, If you're into barrel aged imperial stouts that are on the sweeter side, then give this one a try! $8.99 a bottle.
