Tommie Sjef Wild Ales

 

Fairly hazy dark red with a thin but persistent pinkish-white blanket.

The funk and oak are commendable here, translating the wine grapes almost into cinnamon marzipan krieky vibes, but also eschewing them, giving a little cedar and black pepper with cab tannin.

The liftingly light effervescence belies a slightly more assertive acidity. Sometimes I get blueberry, other times pickled rhubarb with a little tarragon.

 

 

Bottle: Poured a bright reddish color ale with a nice large foamy head with OK retention with some small lacing. Aroma of fresh fruity grape notes with some vinous notes and light tart notes. Taste is also a mix of fresh juicy red grapes notes with a vinous feel, some funky notes with a tart finish. Body is full for style with good carbonation. I loved this one and it tasted like a fine balanced funky red wine.
