On tap at New York Beer Project in Victor, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells roasty and slightly astringent, with some chocolate.
This is a passable black IPA, but the malt character is a bit inexpressive, and there’s a definite ashy astringency on the back end that’s not ideal. There’s some decent pine and grapefruit, but it doesn’t all meld together in the way I’d like.
This is creamy, somewhat drinkable, but not the most interesting sip.
This is about as good as it gets for NYBP – it’s not bad, but it’s certainly not good.

Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance- The brew is served a dark brown brew with a small head of off white tan foam. The head fades fast leaving a light level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma is heavy of a roast and toast smell mixed with pine and herb. Along with these smells is a touch of brown sugar and molasses and a moderate hit of dark cocoa. There is a hint of coffee and creme and a touch of char rounding it all out.
Taste ,The taste starts with a toasty and toasty malt bread flavor mixed with notes of dry cocoa and some herb. There is a hint of brown sugar and molasses that are present upfront but which lessen over time. More herb and a decent showing of pine come on, adding some nice hop. A touch of earth joins in, and with a surge of the roast and pine, one is left with a dark and toasty dank hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel - The body is moderate with a middle of the road carbo. Good for the style and fell, and make for a easy drinking brew.
Overall- A nice dark IPA. One I would certainly do again.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with thin ecru ring head that is leaving some lace. The scent had subtle pine resin hop and roast notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet roasted malt base with pine resin and mild citrus hop presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Draft pour into a taster glass.
Dark dark brown color with a fizzy fleeting head. Roasty malt, pine, bitter, stone fruit tones. Moderate to full mouthfeel with a creamy finish.
