Grapefruit aroma on the nose with moderate bitterness and a light malt backbone that allows the hops to be the main attraction.

Thanks to the Michigan contingent of the NBS BIF for this one. 12oz can (no visible date) pored into 16oz tulip. Poured a cloudy-hazy medium dark orange color with an inch of white head that had low-moderate retention and very light lacing.
The aroma had solid grain base that was topped with nice grapefruit notes. similar on the tongue bold hops supported by solid grains. The body was the typical medium of the style, had a touch of coarseness, and a dry finish. Drinkability was good, a beer that could hold your attention for a couple pints. Overall, a solid and enjoyable IPA. Worth trying if you see it.

I tried a can of this beer at my BRAH-in-law 's house whilst there for Thanksgiving. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had bitter pine and citrus notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bitter citrus and pine presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Not bad. Pale copper, mild head. Malty, piney, slightly citrusy notes on the nose. Taste is more malt and pine than citrus. Light to medium bodied, clean, mouth watering finish, booze asserts itself. Good, not great, better than I hoped for a three month old beer.

Fairly crisp, easy to drink IPA tried on tap at Lansing Brewing Company. Clear slightly darker golden color with a little white head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of some more faint grapefruit, lemon, orange and pineapple hops. Also some malt, bread, caramel and vanilla. Tastes similarly, good crispness, clear and refreshing. Smooth, mild mouthfeel, good carbonation. Very easy to drink and enjoyable, if a little muted.

Angry Mayor IPA is similar in look, feel, and taste to well known classics as Founders Centennial and Bell's Two Hearted Ale. It falls short on the nose, but that is a minor consideration. I wouldn't seek this beer out again, but if it was on tap at a bar I would consider it.

A - Pours a clear amber with a two finger foamy white head. Tons of soapy lacing:
S - Aroma is tangerine, orange peel and grapefruit.
T - The taste follows the aroma. Tangerine, orange peel, grapefruit peel and sweet malts.
M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy moutheel with a crisp dry finish.
O - A solid IPA. The flavors are nice and clean. This would make a great IPA for beginners.
