This 1898 Imperial Stout has a dark brown almost black coloring to it. The smell has hints of darker fruit and chocolate. I enjoyed the taste with the notes of chocolate and the darker fruits with hints of caramelized sugar to it. It has a nice medium body with a creamy texture.

Pours black. Thick, short brown head that Fades slowly to a lasting ring.
Smells roast malts, dark fruit, chocolate and char.
Taste coffee, chocolate, Roast malt, dark fruit and light char. Finishes dry with a roasted malt and light char linger. Medium body and smooth lighter carbonation.

This beer is a deep dark stout with notes similar to Dragonsmilk but without as much bourbon bite. There are some smokey flavors and smells that also replace that bourbon bite that Dragonsmilk contains. I really enjoyed this one.
The look and feel on this one are dark and on the thinner side for a stout. There really aren't any creamy textures at all. The description mentions molasses and caramel notes, I feel like it was more smokey than sweet.
