Capped and corked (not a format I like, btw) 750ml into a nonic pint.
Look: darker than expected, a light orangish brown, with a medium light tan head.
Smell: various shades of funky/sour, but a bit nondescript. Also some biscuit/caramel sweetness.
Taste: definitely a bit funky. Plum, leather, oak, maybe a bit of anise seed. An interesting combo of flavors, but doesn't really evolve, and nothing really pops.
Feel: fairly thick and syrupy, I'd say too much for the style.
Overall: the flavor is pretty interesting, but overall, this is inferior to the broadly similar Petrus Foeder 222 I had last night. Not sure if it's bottled with any critters, but if so, maybe it'll get bubblier and funkier with some age. As it is, one bottle was enough for me.
